Line We Love:

It's Valentine's Day - a time for chocolates & love. And while there are a bunch of things we adore (husbands, besties, and our moms), we couldn't help but put the spotlight on one of our most-loved brands - Steven Alan. Just this week we received an impressively-large shipment from the New York based company & it was bursting full of spring essentials.

Some of our favorites? This 100% cotton crew neck sweater with twist side seams, slits at the hem, and a slightly longer shirt tail hem. Available in both navy & oatmeal, this sweater makes our hearts go pitter-patter. Next is the ever-so perfect shirtdress in a "moss bouquet" print. Yes, receiving flowers on Valentine's Day is always nice, but this floral print promises to put a smile on your face for many seasons to come. Lastly, this Steven Alan camp skirt is the definition of wearable. Made from a soft & lightweight cotton blend, this top will pair perfectly with everything in your closet. It's a match made in heaven.

Wishing you a happy (and stylish!) Valentine's Day! (Ladies, feel free to share this blog with that special someone! It's totally okay to drop hints.)

MiH Jeans

This week has felt much like, shall I say, a denim dream. We’ve gotten in such a large amount of denim (jackets too!) that we can’t help but be in a state of euphoria about it. And nothing has us more excited than our very first shipment of MiH. Our initial impression upon opening the box... to. die. for. denim. Seriously, this denim line lives up to its name of ‘Britain’s most iconic denim brand.’

The Backstory:

Founded in London in 1969, MiH was originally named ‘Made in Heaven’ with the goal of providing the most perfect-fitting, bum-enhancing, leg-lengthening jeans around. Worn by the coolest 70s icons, from Jane Birkin to Farah Fawcett, the jeans made their debut in the legendary Jean Machine stores. Owned by Tony Lonsdale (the man referred to as London’s ‘Blue Jean King’) and his denim model wife, Chekkie Maskell (the original muse for MiH), Jean Machine was the retail phenomenon credited for MiH's startup success.

“I grew up with denim in my blood. It was almost inevitable that the denim industry would be my calling.” - Chloe Lonsdale

Then in 2005, the company re-launched as MiH when Chloe Lonsdale - the goddaughter of MiH’s founder and daughter of Tony & Chekkie - spotted a gap in the denim market for beautifully tailored jeans with a cleaner, more refined look. More than 4 decades later, the brand has remained true to it’s authentic heritage by creating ultra-flattering jeans, with higher waists, in the finest quality denims. Today their original dove logo & jet front pockets make their jeans recognizable all around the world.

The Fit:

The Bonn. A great alternative to low-rise skinnies, this new fit by MiH combines a high rise fit with a super-slim ankle leg. And it gets better - this jean is available in a soft, stretchy, sateen denim that has been lasered to create a subtle dot pattern. So cute I can hardly stand it.

The Ellsworth. This jean’s shorter 30” matchstick leg is a modern update to the skinny jean. A perfect option for our petite customers & available in two washes, this jean will make the transition from winter to spring practically effortless.

The Marrakesh. MiH’s best-selling archive fit is a high-rise flare. Designed to elongate the leg, this jean was made for date nights & casual Fridays at work.

The Casablanca. A slightly scaled down version of the Marrakesh, this mid-rise flare features a 32.5" inseam - meaning you can wear it with flats (hooray!).

The Shirts:

To complement their oh-so gorgeous denim, MiH has introduced a collection of beautiful shirts, luxurious tees & limited edition pieces. Our first shipment included several classic shirting pieces (great for work & play!). Everything about them - the prints, the colors, the fits - all work together to create a modern twist on the classic button-up. For us, it was love at first sight.

Now that’s you’ve been introduced properly to our newest denim line, all that’s left to do is try it! Believe me, you won’t be disappointed.

Lost & Found:

One of our Bliss shoppers, Sara Willis, is a huge fan of Prairie Underground - especially their cloak hoodies.  A few months ago, she shared her story about her missing cloak hoodie & her adorable little pup that tracked it down... months later. It was too good not to share:

It was in September when I was taking my dog Koda for a walk. We ended up at the ball field & I took off my cloak hoodie and threw the ball to him. I must have draped it on the bleachers because I forgot about it & walked home. When I realized it was gone, it never occurred to me that I had left it there since we had been all over that day. And somehow, I think I even forgot I had been wearing it! I looked everywhere for it, but had no luck.

Our first snow this winter came really early (right before Halloween!), and I thought I would never see my cloak hoodie again. Then, mid-way through the winter & months later, we were on a walk and Koda wanted to go into the ball field again. We walked over there, I let him off his leash & he immediately took off for the bleachers. He started sniffing around - I went over to see what he was getting into & could see a little bit of color sticking up through the snow. Frozen solid & covered in mud was my lost Prairie Underground hoodie! I brought it home, washed it and now it's uniquely colored. I still wear it - and it's color is definitley one-of-a-kind now! Needless to say, Koda got LOTS of treats that day!

Good dog, Koda! Thanks for sharing this great story with us, Sara. We're so glad you found your missing cloak hoodie!
