Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of our buying trip started much like every other day - with coffee! We stumbled upon a quaint little cafe a few blocks from the show that kind of reminded us of Bard Coffee (only not quite as good, of course!), and we went there every morning for the rest of our trip. With caffeine in our system, we headed towards the Javits Center for our first day at Coterie...

Our first stop was Nashelle's booth, and I can't think of a better way we could have started the show. Her jewelry is so unique; every piece is handmade and it truly shows in her fine details & craftsmanship. Everything looked stunning as usual, but there were a couple standouts. The first one was her mini collection - basically she made some of her best-sellers in a smaller size (something I really appreciate since I can't wear heavy, large earrings all day). Practical and still super stylish - it's a win-win combination! The other standout was Nashelle's charm necklaces. With a wide variety of charms, there was something there for everyone. (Stay tuned - there's talk about having a charm necklace trunk show in our stores sometime soon!)

Butter by Nadia

If you've ever been in our stores, you've seen our wrap dresses by Butter. They are a crowd favorite... and for good reason. Their design, fabric and overall look sets them apart, and you will continue to see this for fall. Color blocking was a big theme at their booth, along with mid-length and maxi-length skirts. We're excited about the new three-quarter length wrap dresses as well - it's the perfect dress for any occasion! You'll want to wear it everyday (and you can!).

Leigh & Luca

Back for fall is a line we've carried in the past - Leigh & Luca. They make beautiful scarves that are more like luxurious, wearable pieces of art than accessories. Bird prints dominated their booth - including chickadees (Maine's state bird!) and eagles. We were also crushing on their soft cashmere and hand embroidery pieces. If you love our Epice and Chan Luu scarves, you may be adding Leigh & Luca to that list too!

There was a lot to see at Velvet - which is always expected (and welcomed!). Out of everything that we saw, it was their sheer collection that really stood out to me. With black and white mini-dots and floral tops, we loved them all (and I have a feeling you will too!). Their printed pants & navajo embroidery shirts were pretty cute as well. And then there's their wardrobe basics... it's going to be a strong season for Velvet!

Why hello, spring. We couldn't be more happy about the sunshine, especially since we're bringing Havaianas back! After taking last summer off, we realized just how much our customers love (and missed!) the popular flip-flops. This year, take your pick from 7 adorable colors - all in their best-selling slim style. We placed our order at their booth & they should be arriving in a few weeks (just enough time to get that much needed pedicure)!

We carry Spiewak's coats year round with rain jackets in the spring/summer and heavier, winter coats in the fall. If you thought Spiewak looked good this past year, just wait until you see what's coming! Down parkas and wool toggle coats are sure to make a highly fashionable (and warm!) fall season - just wait & see!

With Day 2 under our belt, we stepped outside to unseasonably warm temperatures and hailed a cab. Dinner at Mario Batali's Otto Pizzeria? Yes, please!

(Day 3 & 4 recaps coming soon...)
