Cashmere & Change
I love the possibilities of fall - everything about it channels change. From the most obvious transitions like beach days to school days, to the more subtle changes like the chill at night causing you to reach for that extra blanket. When I was in school, I used to use fall as an excuse to reinvent myself... and my wardrobe. Name a phase and I've probably gone through it at one point. Butterfly clips and awful blue eye-shadow to huge flares whose only necessity was to be big enough to cover up my sneakers. Luckily, I've since moved out of these phases; while I still love to switch up my look every now and again, I'm far more consistent and I've been able to find my style. When it comes to fall, I make sure I'm stocked up in my basics:
Boots- My poor Frye Melissa Button's have seen some serious tough love and I can't wait for my new Lucinda Short's to experience the same devotion.
Scarves - I didn't have a security blanket as a child and I think it has finally caught up with me. Once the bathing suits are packed away, there's rarely a day when I don't have a scarf around my neck. I have my silk/ cashmere Chan Luu's (which are - and I'm not kidding - like wearing a cloud around your neck! They're that soft. I may or may not have a small addiction!) that I wear in constant rotation.
Jeans - Like the rest of the Bliss team, I'm forever a fan of a high-rise. AG's new body the Middi offers the same slim fit of their Leggings but with a higher rise, perfect for tucking into my boots while still allowing me to eat my way through the holidays!
These are pieces that are not only crucial to moving into cooler weather, but if purchased wisely can move with you seamlessly into spring and summer too. Versatility is key. With the change of seasons and change of wardrobe, there comes another change this year.
After 3 amazing years with the Bliss family, countless laughs and many pairs of boots later, I am embarking on a new endeavor. Like all major decisions, this one was not an easy one to make. My job allows me to work with some of the most wonderful, hard-working, sweet & funny people. I get to help women find pieces that outwardly represent who they are. That alone is my favorite part about my job - helping our customers. When a customer comes out of the dressing room smiling and feeling confident, then I did my job.
I'm a stylist, a confidant, a friend, a wrap-dress wrapping machine and sometimes just the strange blonde girl who says "have a great night" at 11am (hey, it can happen...). Bliss has been a second home to me and it will be so weird to leave. I can't wait to come back though. I can't wait to see how far Bliss will go!
So, where am I going? Well, I have the opportunity to move to Brooklyn. It will be strange to trade the tugboats for skyscrapers and what am I going to do without Ceres St Bakery?! Still, Portsmouth will always be home but I truly feel this would be an opportunity I'd regret if I didn't give it a chance.
I'm sorry for the length of this blog post but for those of you who know me, once I start on a roll, I can't stop very easily! I just want to say thank you lastly. Thank you to the best boss I've ever had. Thank you to the best coworkers and thank you to our sweet customers! My last day at Bliss will be this Thursday so please, stop by before then! I'd love to see you.
And if you're ever in New York, look me up!
