New Year, New Wardrobe

Starting the year fresh.

I must admit, I was a little sad to see 2013 end. Not only was it a great year for Bliss (ahem, we launched our website!), but it was also a life-changing year for me and my husband as we welcomed our sweet baby boy in November! Part of me wants to hit the pause button and savor every special (and sleep-deprived) moment, while part of me can't wait to see what the new year will bring.

A new year means new resolutions - or plans, as I like to call them. Plans to slow down and enjoy all of the firsts that this year will bring being a new mom. Plans to take a family vacation (that will certainly include a beach!). Plans to take more risks with decorating my home. And...

Plans to update my wardrobe. Since I was pregnant the majority of last year, my closet took a bit of a backseat to onesies, rattles and swaddling blankets. So as you can imagine, I'm ready to shop. Here's what I've got my eye on for the new year:

Striped Blazer. A great blazer can take jeans and a t-shirt to a whole new level. It's such an easy way to look pulled-together and polished - something that will be essential after pulling an all-nighter with my little one. I'm loving this striped blazer by Velvet. It's a little more unexpected than classic black, but still works as a neutral. Available in navy or black stripes in our stores, it's a great transition piece that I plan on wearing all year round.

Riding Boot. For a while now, I've had a major crush on equestrian-style riding boots. So it's no surprise it was love at first sight when the Dorado Riding boot by Frye arrived in our stores. The dark green leather and slim buckle straps create a sleek, timeless look. These were my first purchase of the new year - and I couldn't be more happy with them.

Denim. After 9+ months of swooning over our new denim arrivals, I have quite the wish list compiled. At the top of that list are 7 for All Mankind's Slim Illusion Skinny in elasticity black and J Brand's high-rise Rail (slim straight-leg) in starless. I'm hitting the refresh button on my denim basics.

Really, I could go on and on about my plans for updating my wardrobe - but I think that's a pretty good start. Along with my personal plans, there are a lot of Bliss plans too. 2014 will be our first full year of - and without spoiling too much, we have some great things coming your way!

Here's to a blissful & stylish new year,

♥ Keriann

New from J Brand:

The Croft Slouchy Cargo

Lightweight, easy and a great update to the cargo pant. The Croft by J Brand is a tencel & cotton blend with a relaxed mid-rise waist. Pair with a casual tank, like this new arrival from Velvet, for a look that's guaranteed to earn you major style points. Spring to it - they're in stores now!

Holiday Style

We've got your holiday wardrobe covered!

It feels as if I blinked, and December is here. Not that I mind, I've always been fond of shopping, Christmas lights and Elf marathons. Oh, and holiday get-togethers, of course! If you're anything like me, the next couple of weekends are sure to be a whirlwind of family gatherings and work soirÉes. With the Christmas season upon us, it's time to start planning some festive outfits (after all, we all know grandma gets camera-happy during this time of year!). Lucky for you, we've got your holiday wardrobe covered. From sequins to silk, you're guaranteed to shine this season.

Sequins, sequins, and more sequins. We've been anticipating Velvet's Holiday Collection since we first laid eyes on it in NYC back in May. Seriously, out of any holiday collection we saw, they had the best sequins - and the best colors. Pick from classic black or a soft pewter, along with a variety of cuts & shapes. Probably the most versatile piece from the collection is Velvet's sequin crop jacket. Pair it with your favorite LBD or wear it with a comfy t-shirt & jeans - either way, you'll create an eye-catching look that is sure to get you in the holiday spirit.

Another must-try look from Velvet is their sequin v-neck tank dress. Not only does it demand the spotlight, but it's pencil skirt cut is super flattering. Add some tights, booties and even a layering top underneath. It's dressed-up layering at its best.

We're also loving the idea of a sequined tank. Perfect on its own or as a layering piece, it's an easy way to add some glam to your wardrobe basics. In addition to Velvet's dainty tank, Susana Monaco's light pink Meredith Top is a great choice if you're looking for something a little longer in length. If you ask us, every woman should have at least one sequined piece in her closet.

Silk tops. They're festive enough for holidays yet ideal for everyday too. Without question, our charmeuse blouse by Steven Alan in bright red perfectly suits this time of year. Wear it with your go-to pair of jeans or some wax-coated skinnies by J Brand. It's a closet mainstay that we simply adore.

Or maybe you had something else in mind for the holidays? Maybe a long-sleeve dress or cozy, cashmere sweater. We have those too! Stop by soon - we'd love to help make your holiday merry & bright.

Our Spring 2013 Buying Trip

Vintage denim, pastel colors & stripes - it's going to be a great spring!

As many of you know from all our instagram-ing, facebook-ing and tweeting, we were in NYC two weeks ago for Coterie - one of the fashion world's largest (& most exciting!) trade shows. And even though the city was buzzing with all things fall, it was clear that the buyers were focused on spring (and for good reason)! By the looks of it, spring is stacking up to be everything we could ever want... the return of authentic denim washes in new modern cuts, carefree flowy tops & an abundance of dresses.

Okay, so maybe you're not ready to be planning your spring wardrobe just yet (after all, fall has only just begun!), but there's no harm in getting a sneak peek at what you'll see in our stores come March. Keep reading... this is going to be fun!

Lily Aldridge for Velvet

She's been the face & body of Velvet since 2004... and now she's launching a limited-edition collaboration with them! Lily Aldridge is a combination of the beautiful girl next door and rock-and-roll supermodel (with a closet to die for!), and this spring she's sharing her covetable style with us. Her collection of tees, dresses & sweaters will easily pair back to all your favorite wardrobe basics. Oh, and did I mention the most perfect military-inspired lightweight jacket? And to make this line even sweeter, Lily personally named every style after a close friend or family member!

MiH Jeans

Denim is going back to the basics for spring. Vintage-looking, distressed washes will be a must, so you can expect plenty of lighter washes in our stores once the warmer weather hits. In addition to the return of authentic denim, we're bringing in a new denim line that we're oh-so excited about - MiH Jeans! Founded in London in 1969, MiH Jeans has a history of being "the original British jeans brand" and the best-fitting jeans around. Some things we love about them: they've always been a family-run company, their silhouettes are ultra slimming, and their details (buttons, pockets, etc.) are simply beautiful.

Signs of Summer

Discover our favorite ways to mix it up this season!

Hello summer, we've been waiting for you! Even though today marks the official start of summer, our stores have been in sunshine mode for weeks now. Vivid colors, airy tanks, and even oversized beach hats - we're diving into our favorite time of year with new summer must-haves arriving daily! With a new season, comes new trends & we're here to break it down for you. Even more so than trends, we've picked out five key looks that will be wardrobe staples long into summer... (and possibly into fall too).

Crochet Lace
Fine, crochet lace details are popping up everywhere - something that has certainly carried over from fall & will continue to be a look that can be worn year-round. Our two favorite pieces? The mabel top by Woo - a gauzy cotton tunic with asymmetric crochet lace collar detailing and bell sleeves (available in either white or black!). Or the statement-making v-neck lace maxi dress by Ella Moss. Both pieces are perfection for summer!

Color Crush
From neon to more traditional shades, we're loving orange right now! We've always been big fans of incorporating color into your look with accessories, but for summer we're obsessed with bright tanks and tees. Try out an eye-catching coral tank from American Vintage - and just see how many compliments you get! Wear it now (with everything!) and later (layered under your favorite cardigan). Without a doubt, it's the shade of the season.

Fall 2012 Buying Trip

Day 2 Recap

Day 2 of our buying trip started much like every other day - with coffee! We stumbled upon a quaint little cafe a few blocks from the show that kind of reminded us of Bard Coffee (only not quite as good, of course!), and we went there every morning for the rest of our trip. With caffeine in our system, we headed towards the Javits Center for our first day at Coterie...

Our first stop was Nashelle's booth, and I can't think of a better way we could have started the show. Her jewelry is so unique; every piece is handmade and it truly shows in her fine details & craftsmanship. Everything looked stunning as usual, but there were a couple standouts. The first one was her mini collection - basically she made some of her best-sellers in a smaller size (something I really appreciate since I can't wear heavy, large earrings all day). Practical and still super stylish - it's a win-win combination! The other standout was Nashelle's charm necklaces. With a wide variety of charms, there was something there for everyone. (Stay tuned - there's talk about having a charm necklace trunk show in our stores sometime soon!)

Butter by Nadia

If you've ever been in our stores, you've seen our wrap dresses by Butter. They are a crowd favorite... and for good reason. Their design, fabric and overall look sets them apart, and you will continue to see this for fall. Color blocking was a big theme at their booth, along with mid-length and maxi-length skirts. We're excited about the new three-quarter length wrap dresses as well - it's the perfect dress for any occasion! You'll want to wear it everyday (and you can!).
